About “Nishijin textile scabbard”

Nishijin brocade that was worn at the Olympics

Glittering gold brocade! This fabric was also used for Daisuke Takahashi's exhibition costume.

It's hard to tell from the image, but the contrast between black and gold is sharp and beautiful, and the silver-white cherry blossoms dancing on the gold sparkle.

Figure skater Takahashi, who won the bronze medal at the Vancouver Olympics, also appeared in an exhibition wearing a costume using this fabric. This Japanese pattern was well reflected in the costume with a Japanese design.

Kinran is densely woven with selected high-quality threads, so it has a strong and stiff texture. Therefore, it firmly protects the knife and sheath of the knife.

About “Lacquer-finished scabbard”

Handmade Japanese "traditional craft" scabbard

Using "new lacquer" with antibacterial action, each product is carefully finished by hand.

Lacquer is very durable. The lacquer itself is strong and resistant to external scratches and sunlight, so it protects knives for a long time.

It is also naturally waterproof, protecting it from water and moisture. It also has antibacterial and insect repellent effects, so you can rest assured that it is used for hygienic purposes such as tableware and wooden products.

Handmade Japanese

What is new lacquer?

In traditional Japanese techniques, natural lacquer (raw lacquer) was generally used in the production of lacquerware, but new lacquer is modern lacquer that contains improved synthetic resin. It is a technique with improved durability and stability compared to conventional unrefined lacquer.

It has a polished blue shell mother-of-pearl suminagashi finish.

Although there are slight unevenness on the surface and after brushing, this is a proof of handmade because the polishing technique is done by hand one by one. Enjoy the one and only scabbard (knife case) in the world.
